Dear Edison Otters Families,

As we continue through the season, I wanted to take a moment to review a few important safety reminders at Oakcrest. Our goal is to provide a fun, positive, and most importantly safe environment for all of our swimmers and families.

Pool Deck Safety

• Please make sure swimmers are not running on the pool deck or surrounding concrete areas.
• Balls, games, and other activities that involve throwing objects should not take place on the pool deck or nearby concrete areas.
• Bicycles, scooters, electric bikes, and similar equipment are not permitted on the pool deck or surrounding concrete areas. These items should remain near the playground area.

Playground Supervision

While we are happy that swimmers enjoy using the playground area, all children using the playground must be supervised by a parent or responsible adult.

Our coaching staff is responsible for supervising swimmers during practice and does not have the staffing necessary to monitor the playground area. If we find children playing there without adult supervision, we will ask them to leave the playground until a parent or guardian is present.

Parking Lot Safety

Please use extra caution when driving through the Oakcrest parking lot. We ask that everyone keep their speed to approximately 15 mph or less to help ensure the safety of all swimmers, parents, and visitors.

We understand that the areas near the pickleball and basketball courts can become crowded, which can be frustrating during drop-off and pick-up times. However, we ask that swimmers not be dropped off far from the entrance and required to walk through the parking lot alone. Whenever possible, please drop swimmers off near the front gate to minimize the amount of time they spend walking through vehicle traffic.

We are currently working with the township to explore possible traffic and parking improvements around the facility. We have meetings scheduled this week and hope to make progress toward creating a safer environment for everyone.
